MadMax Optics is creating a revolutionary simulation environment for the optoelectronics industry. Our unique technology allows designers to accurately model, characterize and predict the behavior of optical components during their design phase. Our modeling capability is intended to shorten optical component production cycles and to bring to market substantially better new optical components with less risk.

Underlying our approach to optoelectronic design is a new class of fast algorithms - Fast Multipole Methods - which were invented by our two founders, Leslie Greengard and Vladimir Rokhlin. The Fast Multipole Method (FMM) was recently cited as one of the ten most important algorithms of the century in an issue of the IEEE Computer Society's journal "Computing in Science and Engineering." The FMM is an essential ingredient in solving Maxwell's equations, which characterize the propagation of light through the complex structures found in optical components.
