The
graphical user interface is flexible and powerful. You can import
the cross-section of a micro-structured fiber from a simple ASCII
file format, use a variety of drawing tools and "wizards"
in our graphical user interface, or modify a sample from our internal
library.
Our algorithms are data-driven. All you specify in the design
phase is a set of smooth boundaries defining the regions with
distinct refractive indices. Once the geometry is specified and
a wavelength regime is chosen, the propagating modes are calculated
with the click of a mouse button. The solvers are "black-box",
require no mesh generation, and (unlike conventional methods),
do not lose accuracy when the index contrast is sharp and large.
HALO returns the dispersion curves, as well as graphical representations
of the field intensity for any of the desired modes.
